Getting an oil change is the most frequent maintenance service you’ll need on your Chrysler 300 or Jeep® Wrangler. Not sure if you need to have your oil changed? Our Millville Dodge dealers at Lilliston Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM are happy to provide more information about getting your oil checked to see if it needs to be changed.
First, it’s best to check the oil level right after the car has been driven. After turning off the engine, we’ll let the car sit for a couple minutes to cool a little bit. Next, we’ll open up your vehicle’s hood and look for a brightly colored plastic handle. This handle is often red, yellow, orange, or some other noticeable color so that you always know where it is. This is the dipstick that shows you the oil level.
Now, we will remove the dipstick and wipe it off with an old rag or cleaning cloth to make sure all the oil is off of it. Then, we’ll reinsert the dipstick into its hole and remove it again. This will show the actual level of your oil.
It’s important to keep an eye on your oil level so you know when it’s time for an oil change. This a regular maintenance task that is necessary no matter the type of vehicle you have. It is recommended that you change your oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, but if you’re not sure how long it’s been, check your oil level following these instructions.
